PRESS RELEASE
Polymer Factory expands the business and hires PhD Andreas Nyström as CMO (Chief Medical Officer). Polymer Factory’s business strategy is to build value and revenue by providing advanced dendritic and polymeric materials using cutting edge know-how and to develop future ground-breaking materials in close collaboration with clients.
Polymer Factory has received several orders from clients’ in the Life Science industry meanwhile contract research is becoming a big part of the company", CEO Mats Wallnér says. Andreas Nyström will contribute with his expertise in medicine and medical uses of polymeric materials, especially the design of dendritic material for biomedical applications.
Andreas Nyström received his MSc in Chemical Engineering and Polymer Technology in 2002 from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm Sweden, after which he continued with his PhD in dendrimer chemistry at KTH. In 2006 Andreas graduated with a PhD (engineering), and joined the group of Prof. Karen L. Wooley at Washington University in Saint Louis for a two year postdoctoral position, financed by a distinguished assistant professor and post doctoral grant from Knut and Alice Wallenberg foundation to work on polymeric nanoparticles for drug delivery and in vivo imaging. In 2009 Andreas joined the faculty at Karolinska Institute (KI) of Medicine as an assistant professor working with polymeric nanosystems for cancer therapy and imaging, and in 2010 Andreas joined the Swedish Medical Nanoscience Center at KI as an Associate Professor of Nanomedicine. Andreas serves as international reviewer for the Czech National Science Foundation and the Research Grant Council (RGC) of Hong Kong.
