Biotin - The Ideal Molecule for Protein and Macromolecules Labelling

Biotin-avidin interaction is commonly exploited to detect and purity proteins

The high affinity between biotin and avidin is unaffected by extreme pH, high temperature, organic solvents and other denaturing agents. These features of biotin and avidin are useful for purifying or detecting proteins conjugated to either components.

Besides favourable biotin-avidin interaction, the newly released biotin dendrons are offered with both carboxylic acid and protected-amine periphery groups so that you can choose the right linker for a variety of target groups. Biotin dendrons also offer increased solubility with a hydrophilic spacer between the biotin moiety and peripheral groups, which provides multiple sites for conjugation.

Some potential protein research applications:

- Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA)

- Western Blot Analysis

- Immunoprecipitation (IP)

- Cell Surface Labelling
